PSX sheds 151 points in low-volume session

The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) turned to profit-taking activity an a low-volume session on Monday, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index shedding 151.25 points (-0.33 percent) to close at 45,612.20 points.

The market opened on a positive note but turned bearish soon and remained in the red territory for the entire session. Increasing cases of the Omicron variant of the coronavirus kept the market under pressure, which prompted profit-taking activity. The KSE-100 Index moved in a range of 401.5 points, showing an intraday low of 45,787.4 points and a high of 45,385.9 points. Among other indices, the KSE All Share Index shed 95.21 points (-0.3 percent) to close at 31,234.23 points, while KMI All Share Islamic Index shed 35.35 points (-0.16 percent) to close at 22,439.59 points.

A total of 351 companies traded shares in the stock exchange, out of them shares of 106 closed up, shares of 229 closed down while shares of 16 companies remained unchanged. Out of 92 traded companies in the KSE-100 Index, 34 closed up, 56 closed down and two remained unchanged. TLTP
