In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, a journalist was attacked by the goons of a construc-tion company in Rajouri district.
The journalist was attacked after he raised the issue of massive traffic jams due to construction work by the company.
Thereafter, the journalists, under the banner of Press Club, Rajouri, blocked the busy Gujjar Mandi Chowk and protested against Dharam Raj Construc-tion Company. The President of Press Club, Avi-nash Jasyal and Chairman Arif Qureshi led the jour-nalists in the protest demanding registration of at-tempt to murder case against contractor of said company.
The media body demanded strict punishment for those involved in the attack on senior journalist Imran Khan who was attacked and injured by goons of Dharam Raj Construction Company for discharg-ing his professional duty.
Jasyal expressed his concern about the attack on journalists and called for better safety measures and protection as well as thorough investigations of attacks against journalists covering important and critical news.
Arif Qureshi said that from physical assault to false action, journalists have faced several difficul-ties while trying to do their jobs.
These attacks have risen dramatically in the past years and we demand immediate arrest of those who attacked Imran.
Ashfaq Ahmed Magray, President of the con-tractors association, strongly condemned the attack on the journalist and appealed to the SSP of Rajouri to register FIR against the perpetrators of this crime.
In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, instead of releasing journalist Sajad Gul after he was granted bail by a court in the territory, the au-thorities implicated him in another fake case.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Sajad Gul has been arrested by the Indian police days after he posted a video of family members and relatives raising anti-India slogans after the martyrdom of their kin, during a cordon and search operation (CASO), in Srinagar.
He was detained in an Indian Army raid on January 5 and was later handed over to the police. A court in Bandipora district yesterday granted him bail and ordered his release. However, instead of releasing him, the authorities said that another FIR has been registered against Sajad Gul for attempted murder and he is now arrested in connection with that case.
An Indian police official told reporters that Sa-jad Gul was in custody in connection with another case registered against him on January 3, 2022.
Sajad Gul’s lawyer Umair Ronga said that when the release orders reached Hajan police station, the family members were informed. The family mem-bers were forced to wait a few hours and were told that the journalist would not be released due to an-other FIR. He said apparently another case has been registered against him for obstructing the execution of court orders.—KMS
