Federal Minister for Defense and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) provincial president Pervez Khan Khattak Wednesday said that the opposition parties were afraid of the popularity of PTI among masses and therefore spreading propaganda against the party and its leadership.

Talking to media at the residence of Iftikhar Khan Advocate in Nowshera, he said that masses have already rejected the opposition parties in the local government elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa where PTI got more seats than any other political party.

However, he said that PTI could not get as many seats as it was expecting and now the party would participate in the second phase of LG polls with more vigour, adding that Prime Minister Imran Khan has entrusted him with great responsibility of reorganizing the party in the province.

Khattak said that in the second phase of LG polls the party would award tickets to only those candidates who would be selected by the party workers and fulfill the merit.

He said that the opposition parties who were involved in corrupt practices were blaming PTI for corruption to hide their own ugly face, adding that PPP deceived masses in the name of Roti, Kapra, Makan; PMLN misappropriated the tax money and JUIF made the people fool in the name of religion.

He said ANP always played the Pakhtun card in politics and left Pakhtuns when KP province was facing the menace of terrorism and extremism. Khattak said that the PTI under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan was taking pragmatic measures to resolve the issues of common man besides putting the country on a path of development and prosperity.—APP
