VC stresses varsity’s role in higher learning

The role of University is always evaluated by the learning outcomes. These learning outcomes if systematically followed contributes to develop qualified professionals having enhanced competency in subject knowledge and intellectual capability. Such role of universities results in grooming professionalism and employability skills for global market.”

The Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Iftikhar Ahmad (T.I.) made these remarks adding that Pakistan’s development is in the hands of university professors. Dr. Iftikhar was speaking to the workshop on Academic Audit and knowledge gap economy. He said that it sounds a useless when a professor complains that they lack authority in producing a change as they have now the academic freedom granted under semester system and what they require is to establish the strong bond with a book for their students and themselves.

The Vice Chancellor University of Science and Technology Bannu Prof. Dr. Khairul Zaman and Deans, Registrars, Heads, Faculty and Administrative Officers of all departments of Gomal University were also present on the occasion. Addressing the workshop, Vice Chancellor Dr. Iftikhar briefed the house that the Higher Education Commission was formed back in 2002 for the purpose to transform Pakistan’s higher education system and to bring it at par with the academics standards in Global world.

“speaking here as a teacher, I feel sorrowful in sharing with my fellow teachers present here today that the same semester system that has resulted as the best and suitable in providing the skilful professionals to world rising economies is unfortunately not yielding the results in Pakistan Which compels us to take our academic audit seriously.” Prof. Dr. Iftikhar Ahmad concluded. The workshop was conducted by Dr. Aslam Khan, Coordinator, Directorate of Academics. Dr. Muhammad Shoaib, Deputy Director, Academics, performed the duties of Stage Secretary for the workshop.
