Emir Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Sirajul Haq has said the incumbent Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government during its three and half years rule has gifted the country with plethora of problems.

Addressing a public meeting in tehsil Taunsa of district Dera Ghazi Khan on Monday, he said that Imran Khan government destroyed the economy and handed over Pakistan to the IMF.

Earlier, Sirajul Haq was given reception by the party’s local leaders and workers in Muzaffargarh where he also met with the notables of the area. Addressing the public meeting, he said that the governments of the PTI, the PML-N, the PPP and military dictators had miserably failed to deliver during their rule over country and JI was the only option left with the people now. If voted to power, he vowed, the JI would transform the country as per vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

The JI chief said the feudal lords and ruling elite did not want to see a common man in assemblies. They, he added, created hurdles in the way of educated youth and wanted the masses to severe them like their [ruling elite] elders had served the British rulers of united India.

The ruling elite of the country, he added, was carrying the legacy of the colonial era. He said there was need to get rid of them through peaceful democratic struggle. He said the country could not be put on track in presence of corrupt system.

Siraj said the southern Punjab was presenting a gloomy picture of affairs. The roads and infrastructure of the area of 40 million population were badly damaged as the PTI had not paid any attention to the people’s demands, he said, adding the ruling party deceived the residents of southern Punjab like they were tricked by the PML-N and the PPP governments in the past. He said the majority of the population was without facility of clean drinking water.—INP
