Met Office on Friday said cold and dry weather is expected to prevail in most parts of the country during the next 12 hours.

However, it added, very cold weather is likely to prevail in upper districts and north Balochistan.

Rain with wind and thunder-storm (with light snow over the mountains) is ex-pected at isolated places in Kashmir and its adjoin-ing areas. Dense fog/smog will continue to envelope plain areas of Punjab.

The dry and cold Siberian winds have gripped the port city, turning the weather chilly for Karachiites.

The minimum temperature dropped to 10 degrees Celsius in the metropolis on Friday morning as the dry continental winds continued blowing throughout the night, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said in its weather report.

The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 24 degrees Celsius during the day, the weather report said. Humidity in the air was 56 per cent.
