Declare cow ‘national animal’; BJP MP in Rajya Sabha

A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Indian Parliament has demanded declaring of the cow as the national animal of India and enacting of a central law to stop cow slaughter in the country.

The demand was made by the BJP MP Kirori Lal Meena in the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of Parliament. He said cow is an integral part of Indian culture.—INP
