NAB clarifies news about Malam Jabba case

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Tuesday clarified a news item published in a section of press related to Malam Jabba case and said that two companies named Samsons Group of Companies (Pvt) Ltd and M/s FMG Global Private Ltd have filed writ petition No. 1428/2018 in Peshawar High Court in Malam Jabba case.

The NAB said that matter regarding illegal lease of Forest Land had been disposed of by the Honorable Peshawar High Court, vide order date 01.10.2020, in W.P No. 1428-P/2018 by directing the Additional Chief Secretary, KP to immediately submit the report of Committee, already notified by Provincial Government, vide order date 25.06.2018, to settle dispute of ownership/title of 270 acres of Forest land, in light of following 3 X queries; a. Was the land in question Provincial Government land immediately after merger of Swat State or was it given to Federal Government prior to merger, and was Federal Government Land? b. Which Provincial Department is the rightful custodian of the land in question? c. Whether the revenue entry pertaining to the land in question is correct or erroneous?

The Committee submitted its report to Provincial Government of KP with the following answers and has been approved by the Cabinet in its meeting held on 28.12.2020; a. The Land in question was Federal Land and was given prior to merger. b. Tourism Department is the lawful owner. c. Prima facie, the entry in revenue record is erroneous. The matter has been resolved and the subject land has been de-notified.
