Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that country’s development and progress mainly depends on the uplift of the agriculture sector therefore it is amongst the top priorities of the government.
The Prime Minister was speaking during a meeting with Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar in Islamabad on Wednesday.
He was of the view that the share of agriculture in the GDP with fifty percent workforce connected with it reflects the sector’s importance to the country’s economy.
Agriculture has been made part of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and it is utmost effort of the government to take full benefit from the Chinese expertise in the sector by introducing the latest technology and farming techniques to the farmers, he added.
Premier Imran Khan said that inclusion of agriculture in CPEC projects will help improve the productivity of the agriculture sector.
Expressing his confidences in Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar, who has recently been given the portfolio of the Ministry of National Food Security, the Prime Minister hoped that he will fully devote his energies for the development of the agriculture sector.
