Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah Wednesday sent the draft of an ordinance to the Governor to regularize the illegal constructions in the province after the issue of demolishing the Nasla Tower.

The Sindh government has suggested constituting a commission headed by a retired judge for the purpose.

In the proposed commission, a legal adviser, secretary, department of local government and town planning and ABAD chairman will be members.

The CM Sindh will be bound to appoint the members of the commission within fifteen days. The commission could give orders of action against those responsible for illegal construction including the public officers as well as it would also have the power to impose fines on the builder.

As per the draft of the ordinance, the commission will decide on the regulation of illegal constructions and may seek the services of a firm or company in this regard.

The commission will be constituted for one year and will receive applications for the regularization of illegal constructions.

The commission may order the registration of criminal cases against the officers involved in carrying out illegal constructions as well as it may also call upon any provincial department officer or record.

The draft of the ordinance also said that the Commission will have judicial powers and will decide the case within 60 days and its order would not be challenged.

The anti-encroachment operation will be temporarily halted across Sindh and the order for demolition of buildings will be automatically suspended after 90 days after the approval of the ordinance.
