In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the International Forum for Justice Human Rights JK (IFJHRJK) has castigated the authorities for their oppressive and inhuman approach towards the people of the valley.
The IFJHRJK Chairman, Muhammad Ahsan Untoo, today, visited the family of a martyred civilian, Athar Mushtaq in Pulwama and expressed solidarity with the aggrieved family.
He also demanded return of the bodies of all civilians martyred by Indian troops in so-called cordon and search operations in the territory.
Speaking to the family members of the martyr, Untoo said that the successive Indian regimes had increased the oppressive measures against the people and denounced the authorities for not handing over the bodies to the relatives for proper burial. Denying the bodies to their heirs is against the international law, he added.
He said the family of Athar Mushtaq still waits for the return of his body and instead of returning the body, the Indian forces have been threatening the family.
The family of Athar has also dug up a grave for him in his ancestral village. On the occasion, Athar’s father reiterated the demand for return of the dead body for proper buria
Untoo said that the bodies of recently martyred civilians had been returned, but Ather s, body was not being returned. Untoo said, father of Athar’s has not received any support from any part of the society. “We want Atahar’s body back.
We will wait for his body till we are alive”, Athar’s father said.Ataher was 16 years old and was appearing in exams.
Meanwhile, Untoo said that he had filed a petition in the High Court of IIOJK against Athar’s killing and the return of his body, but the petition is yet to be heard
He urged the international rights bodies to take note of the Indian oppression in the disputed territory.–KMS
