A total of seventy five ancient relics have been discovered in Kapisa and Logar provinces, an official said.
The archeologists found the artifacts dating back to two thousand years in the Kushanid era, in Khume-Zargar area of Kapisa and Mis-e-Ainak area of Logar province and handed over to the national museum said Fahim Rahimi, director of the National Museum of Afghanistan.
The antiquities, he said included pottery, metal barrels that were used for various tools and that there were also a number of small statues which have been taken to the museum.
Meanwhile, Minister of Information and Culture Khairullah Khairkhah said that they were trying to prevent ancient relics’ smuggling abroad and that the antiquities the officials found were very ancient and old.
“We want to display them to countries around the world,” said the minister. Also, the spokesman of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and deputy to the Ministry of Information and Culture Zabiullah Mujahid said that the restoration ties will resume in the spring of next year and that they were still in contact with those institutions able to maintain and restore such artifacts.
The official hoped to return a number of the country’s ancient relics smuggled to other countries in the past five months, back to the national museum.—Agencies
