Children with Haemophilia spend joyful day at Maritime Museum

Children affected with Haemophilia, a bleeding disorder on Saturday spend a joyful evening away from their pains and worries at the Maritime Museum here marking the International Children’s Day.

They were enthralled with a magic show and plenty of games along with refreshing walk in an open park.

According to details, Global Children’s Day was celebrated by Haemophilia Welfare Society at Maritime Museum, Karachi.

A captivating and interactive magic show for these children was organized on the occasion with competitions to eat bananas and making paintings. The children fully participated in these healthy activities and had a lot of fun.

Talking to media on the occasion, Founder and President of Hemophilia Welfare Society Karachi Raheel Ahmed, who is also affected with the disease, said that Haemophilia is a hereditary disease causing bleeding.

Out of every 100,000 newborns, 21 are infected with this disorder. The number of such patients in Pakistan is around 25,000, the society has 900 patients registered.

Two and a half lakh rupees a month is needed at least on the treatment of such a child. There is no treatment facility for Haemophilia patients in any government hospital and parents strive on their own to provide treatment to their affected children.

Chief Guest of the program, Secretary Sindh Blood Transfusion Authority Dr. Zahid Ansari assured his all-out support to the HWSK in providing treatment to children with haemophilia.

Dr. Sarfraz Jafri, Society officials Fakhr Alam Zaidi, Mohammad Shahid Daud, Rana Asghar Ali, Anis-ur-Rehman, large number of other guests and parents were present on the occasion.
