Special Assistant to Chief Minister Punjab on Information Hasaan Khawar on Thursday said that PML-N’s slogan “respect the vote” was probably not a slogan for Pakistanis abroad.
“Some political parties, for some unknown fear, used overseas Pakistanis for their political gains and kept them deprived of their legitimate right to vote.”
He expressed these views while talking to the media on his visit to Overseas Pakistanis Commission Punjab.
Hasaan Khawar, while congratulating the Pakistanis living abroad on getting their right to vote, said that the Buzdar government has been taking practical steps for their welfare.
He said that Sardar Usman Buzdar has directed that delay in resolution of issues of Overseas Pakistanis will not be tolerated at any cost.
Hasaan Khawar said that, on special instructions of Sardar Usman Buzdar, the helpline for Overseas Pakistanis has been made functional round the clock, while the response time for complaints of overseas Pakistanis visiting their homeland has been reduced to 30 days instead of the previous 90 days.
Those who went abroad on green passports were considered lesser Pakistanis, which is why they were deprived of the right to vote, he said. Giving them the right to vote after 74 years is in fact recognition of their valuable services for their country.
The Opposition was afraid of their right to vote because the Opposition is afraid of the truth. “We have deliberately ignored our exports for the past 74 years,” he said.
Sending their hard-earned remittances to Pakistan by immigrants is a great service for the country. Answering various questions of media representatives, Hasaan Khawar said that Pakistanis abroad are keepers of Imran Khan’s vision and manifesto.
Fugitive politicians themselves contested elections from abroad but tried to influence the voting rights of overseas Pakistanis, he stated.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, under the leadership of Imran Khan, has done away with this outdated system. Overseas Pakistanis now will be able to exercise their voting right in 2023 as per their conscience. Hasaan Khawar also appealed to the overseas Pakistanis to stay vigilant of the ‘fugitive’ immigrants who have tarnished the image of Pakistan by infiltrating their ranks and file.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson to the Punjab government Hasaan Khawar said the politically unemployed had to face defeat in the joint parliament session as the opposition’s every conspiracy had been frustrated.
In a statement issued on Thursday, SACM said the whole nation has witnessed the victory of truth and defeat of falsehood. The opposition will continue to face defeats in future as it’s the most incompetent opposition in the country’s history.
He advised the failed opposition parties to learn a lesson from their defeat. The political pygmies are worthless before the transparent leadership of PM Imran Khan and the opposition is like the 12th player, he added.
