PESHAWAR – Two policemen were martyred on Saturday after a patrol vehicle was targeted in an improvised explosive device (IED) explosion in Bajur district in Malakand Division of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
The police officials were on a routine patrol near Raghagan Dam when the IED went off at around 10:30am.
An official said that one of the martyred was a sepoy while the other was a havaldar. The bodies were shifted to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital while the police had launched a search operation in the area to trace the suspects.
Later in the day, at least seven people were injured in an explosion took place near a police mobile in Nawa Killi area of Quetta.
Earlier this year, a policeman was martyred and 17 people injured in a blast outside Balochistan University on the Sariab Road in the provincial capital.
Then-Balochistan government spokesperson Liaquat Shahwani said that a police truck deputed outside the varsity gate was targeted in the explosion.
