Three days training workshop under Punjab Cities Programme was held with the aim to raise the living standard of citizens and good governance. Exactly 30 officials from five Municipal Committees of South Punjab attended the training workshop.
The purpose of the workshop was to provide skills to Municipal Committees officials regarding Finance Management, Urban Infrastructure, Procurement, and Environmental Social Management.
Engineers including Chief Officers of Bahawalnagar, Buriwala, Khanewal, Kot Addu, Vehari participated in the workshop.
Director Local government, Muhammad Farooq Dogar addressing the workshop said that the Local Government Cities Program was being run with the financial assistance of 236 million dollars by the World Bank.
He further said that the work was underway on water supply, renovation of parks and chowks, construction of roads, installation of street lights, and solid waste management projects under the program.
Dogar said that the living standard of four million residents of 16 municipal committees would raise through the completion of the ongoing projects.
Training will also improve municipal service delivery and directly benefit citizens. Deputy Director Local Government Khanewal Shahid Iqbal and other officers participated in the three-day training.
