The Chief Justice of Pakistan came hard on Punjab Chief Secretary on Wednesday for non-implementation of court order regarding restoration of local body institutions. He was hearing the contempt case against the provincial government.

Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Gulzar Ahmad got furious on the passive response of the Punjab chief secretary and warned him that the court may send him to prison where he will spend the rest of his life.

The three-judge bench hearing the case sought a response from the Punjab chief secretary for not following the court’s orders.

The court ordered the chief secretary to file a detailed reply in a week in this regard.
“Tell us Mr chief secretary what has happened seven months after the court passed the order,” the chief justice remarked, adding “You have come to the court like are going to a lunch or dinner.:

The chief justice told Punjab’s top bureaucrat in unequivocal terms that the government would have to implement the court order whether “you or your party don’t like it”.

The chief justice further told the chief secretary that “Who appointed you as Punjab chief secretary as you cannot be even appointed as a union council secretary”.

The chief justice remarked the court will see what to do about the chief secretary’s remaining service and sending him to prison.
