No room for black sheep in Police Dept, says IGP
Punjab Inspector General of Police Rao Sardar Ali Khan on Tuesday declared that the process of internal accountability has been intensified in the Police Department under the policy of first reward and then punishment to purge the department from power abuse, corruption and other irregularities.
“Where rewards for duty, bravery and honesty are given in the police force, at the same time immediate action is also ensured against those involved in misuse of power and negligence.”
Punjab IG Police Rao Sardar Ali expressed the views while issuing punishment orders to the officers during DSPs’ Orderly Room held at Central Police Office here on Tuesday.
The IG Police said that strict punishment in police is essential to improve performance of the force and any officer or official involved in professional negligence or any illegal activity will be expelled from the police department.
IG Punjab personally heard explanations from the 6 DSPs who were suspended for various complaints and irregularities during the Orderly Room and after scrutinizing their inquiry reports, issued orders to file penalties and petitions.
According to details, IG Punjab issued orders of dismissal to three DSPs namely Muhammad Ijaz, Farrukh Sohail Sindhu and Imtiaz Ahmed from the department while show cause notices of DSPs Asif Hanif, Muhammad Iqbal and Amir Abbas Khemita were filed.
Meanwhile, IG of Police Rao Sardar Ali Khan said that all possible measures should be taken to arrest the ruthless accused of Indhar gang along with their facilitators as soon as possible.
He further said that steps should be taken to promote people friendly policing in the style of smart and community policing to restore the sense of security and confidence of the people.
He directed senior officers to go into the field areas and send a weekly progress report on the case to the Central Police Office.
He further said that in order to protect the lives and property of the citizens, the number of security personnel and duration of patrolling should be increased in orde to maintain peaceful environment.
He further said that keeping all kinds of pressure at bay, the case should be brought to a logical conclusion on merit without any delay.
He issued these instructions while giving instructions to RPO Bahawalpur and DPO Rahim Yar Khan during a video link conference held at Central Police Office today.
During the conference, the ongoing operations for arrest of accused of Indhar gang in Rahim Yar Khan were reviewed in detail.
During the conference, DPO Rahim Yar Khan Capt (retd) Muhammad Ali Zia while briefing about the ongoing operations for rrest of accused of Indhar gang said that so far 53 raids have been carried out for arrest of Indhar gang accused whereas Operations are underway in area of Katcha as well.
He further said that 14 persons have been sent on remand so far and investigation into the incident is being ensured from all angles.
Giving instructions, IGP Punjab further said that maintaining law and order in the society and protection of life and property of the citizens is the primary responsibility of the police for which the police teams should perform their duties with full enthusiasm, sincerity and diligence.
