The Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue1122) responded to 1112 Road Traffic Crashes (RTCs) in all 37 districts of Punjab during last 24 hours. In these RTCs, 18 people died, whereas 1123 were injured.
Out of this, 631 people were seriously injured who were shifted to different hospitals. Whereas, 492 minor injured victims were treated at the incident site by Rescue Medical Teams thus reducing the burden of Hospitals.
The majority (65%) Motorbikes were involved, therefore effective enforcement of traffic laws and lane discipline are essential to reduce this increasing number of Road Traffic Crashes.
Further, the analysis showed that 469 drivers, 94 underage drivers, 163 pedestrians, and 509 passengers were among the victims of these road traffic crashes.
The statistics show that 290 RTCs were reported in Lahore which affected 279 persons placing the Provincial Capital at top of the list followed by 90 in Faisalabad with 94 victims, and at third 70 RTCS in Gujranwala with 73 victims.
The details further reveal that 1123 victims were affected by road traffic crashes including 937 males & 204 females, while the age group of the victims shows that 207 were under 18 years of age, 591 were between 18 and 40 years and rest of the 343 victims were reported above 40 years of age.
According to the data 911 motorbikes, 129 auto-rickshaws, 101 motorcars, 40 vans, 07 passenger buses, 29 trucks and 187 other types of auto vehicles and slow-moving carts were involved in aforesaid road traffic accidents.
