In an effort to ensure safe and controlled blood donation,transfusion and supply to the hospitals, the Balochistan government has declared registration of public and private blood banks mandatory that were functioning in the province.
Under the Balochistan government’s ordinance, ‘Balochistan Safe Blood Transfusion Act V (15)/2004’ the license was mandatory for the blood banks to operate in the province, a Balochistan government official told APP.
The government has directed an individual, hospital, clinic, laboratory, group practice, firm, and others who own, manage or operate to ensure their operations as Registered Blood Bank and were being issued a license to operate this Blood Bank.
The aim and object of the act was to ensure safety, protection and promotion of human life by providing establishment and maintenance of comprehensive and quality Blood Transfusion Services in the Province.
The Authority would take all steps that may be required to ensure perpetual and sustained development of such services in the province as per the internationally acceptable standards.
The blood banks having license were also directed to renew their license till the due date. The authority would also take strict action against those who were not applying for the license.—APP
