Punjab Inspector General of Police Rao Sardar Ali Khan has said that effective use of social media platforms is essential for prompt delivery of necessary information and immediate solution of problems faced by the citizens.
“Special attention should be paid to timely resolution of public issues received on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and other sources.”
Punjab IG Police Rao Sardar Ali Khan issued the instructions to officers during inauguration of Social Media Monitoring Unit here at Central Police Office on Friday.
The IG Police directed the staff of social media unit to intensify efforts to monitor and address issues of public.
He emphasized upon propagation of public welfare projects of Police in every district, especially Police Service Centres.
He directed to provide modern facilities to PROs in ranges, districts and units and also hold training workshops for their capacity building so that they could expedite public service delivery.
Punjab PPIO / DIG Operations Sajid Kiyani while briefing the IG Police about working of Social Media Monitoring Unit, said that Punjab Police is paying special attention on resolution of problems of people and quick provision of information to them through social media.
In this regard, immediate response is taken from the relevant Range and district on public issues and complaints on Social Media like Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
Additional IG Operations Sahibzada Shehzad Sultan and other officers were also present on the occasion.
