India is a rape country, as per India’s National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), nearly 77 rape cases were reported across India on an average every day in 2020.
A report released by Kashmir Media Service, today, said the NCRB data shows, besides rape, there were 85,392 cases of assault to outrage modesty and 3,741 cases of attempt to commit rape.
It said, NCRB report revealed number of rape cases stood at 28,046 in 2020, 32,033 in 2019, 33,356 in 2018 and 32,559 in 2017.
One woman is raped every 16 minutes, while one woman is gang-raped every 30 hours in India, it said, adding that in most of the cases, rape incidents go unreported in India.
The report said, even Indian extremists went as far as issuing rape threats against Indian Cricket team captain Virat Kohli’s 10-month-old daughter.
It deplored that the rape threats against Kohli’s daughter surfaced after he decided to stand by the Muslim teammate, Mohammad Shami.
The Delhi Commission for Women, the report said, lamented that the way the 10-month-old daughter of Virat Kohli was threatened on Twitter is very shameful.
The report said, the fact that Kohli’s daughter is receiving rape threats for standing by his Muslim teammate shows how much Indians can stoop down.
It also proves how Modi’s India is propagating hatred towards Muslims. Indian women are constantly in a state of high alert when alone on the streets, at work or in the markets, it said, adding women feel unsafe while going out of their homes.
The report maintained that increasing rape cases in India was a challenge to the civilized world.—INP
