Special Assistant to Punjab Chief Minister (SACM) on Information & Special Initiatives Hassan Khawar on Monday declared that the Punjab government is fully aware of the sufferings of the public, especially the lower strata of the society and impact of inflation.
“The Punjab government under the leadership of Sardar Usman Buzdar has been working strategically to mitigate the sufferings of the masses and minimise affects of inflation.”
Hassan Khawar claimed that the ongoing protests of opposition parties has nothing to do with inflation as they are struggling to safeguard the plundered public money.
Spokesperson for the Punjab Government Hassan Khawar expressed the views while talking to media during inspection the stock of imported low-price sugar at a government warehouse in Mughalpura.
The SACM said that opposition is only fighting to serve their vested interest under the guise of public interest, adding that but can no more hoodwink the masses.
ADCG Lahore and AC Shalimar Town briefed him through a special dashboard set up by the Punjab Information Technology Board for monitoring supply and demand of sugar in the market.
Hassan Khawar said that the government has imported 90,000 tons of sugar, out of which, two ships containing 59,000 tons of sugar has been offloaded.
At present, about 28,000 tons of sugar has been supplied to the market. He also said that the government is ensuring the supply of low-price sugar to common man without any hindrance.
Under an integrated system, the cane commissioners have allotted quotas to all the districts, and sugar is being provided to deputy commissioners in all the districts according to their allotted quotas. This whole process is being effectively monitored with the help of modern technology.
Replying to a question about change in government, he said that he has been hearing about in-house change in Punjab for the past three years.
The fact is that PTI government in Punjab is footed firmly with the full support of coalition parties.
He also said that the government was working to bring about reforms in the outdated system currently operating the markets.
In response to a question about the sit-in of a religious party, he said the government was trying to avoid clash with any religious party and that all issues were to be resolved through dialogue.
Hassan Khawar was of the view that during PML-N regime, then chief minister Punjab had five camp offices but surprisingly, despite having a single CM office, the opposition now imagines four chief ministers in Punjab.
Our government has reduced the burden on the public exchequer by cutting down the expenses of CM Secretariat.
