The district administration Rahim Yar Khan claimed to have foiled the bid to smuggle sugar from Punjab to Balochistan.

According to the report of a private TV channel, the Rahim Yar Khan administration seized 2,240 sacks of sugar, which will be sold at the govt prices.

The report citing sources said that three trucks loaded with sugar sacks were seized at Kot Sabzal check-post. After seizing the sugar sacks, the trucks were released by the administration, the report claimed.

Earlier on October 18, the Punjab govt had thwarted a smuggling of sugar from JDW Group’s sugar mills to Quetta.

The Buzdar govt had seized 900 maunds of sugar from JDW’s sugar mills unit 1 Rahim Yar Khan, which was being smuggled to Quetta, confirmed the provincial food department.

The truck loaded with the sugar had been seized at Chachran Toll Plaza during checking. The driver of the vehicle has been taken into custody. Further investigation into the matter was launched.

Meanwhile, the spokesperson of the JDW group, rebutting the news had said that the sugar was sold to a buyer, and it is his or her discretion to transport wherever he or she wants.

Meanwhile, the police arrested three main suspects in the killings of three brothers in Shahdara including a woman.

According to a private TV channel quoting police, those taken into custody were identified as: Rasheedan Bibi, her husband Asghar and son Ghulam Abbas.

They further disclosed that Ghulam Abbas, one of the suspects, had sit on the bonnet of a car owned by the deceased brothers.

And when they asked him to get off the bonnet, this infuriated Rasheedan, Abbas’s mother, who called her brothers living in Sharaqpur Sharif to come and teach the three brothers a lesson.

On reaching Shahdara, sources added, Rasheedan’s brothers first had an altercation with the victims following which they opened fire at them, resulting in the death of all three of them.

Asghar, Rasheedan’s husband, also sustained injuries in the process. Police said that raids are being continued to arrest the remaining suspects in the case.

Three brothers had been shot dead over a minor dispute in Jahangir Park area of Shahdara Town Monday last.
