The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) claimed on Monday to have killed three terrorists and arrested four others during 22 intelligence-based operations (IBOs) carried out across Punjab over the past week.

According to a CTD spokesperson, three militants were killed in an operation in Pakpattan.
One of them was identified as Manzoor Ahmed. Two hand grenades, Kalashnikov and other illicit arms were seized from their possession.

An intelligence-based operation in Chiniot led to the arrest of a terrorist associated with outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), the spokesperson said, adding 1,100 grams of explosive material and bomb-making equipment were recovered from the arrested suspect who was identified as Abdul Rahim Makki.

Another TTP man, named Abdul Ghaffar, was arrested in Sahiwal and a hand grenade and bomb-making equipment were seized from his possession.

The spokesperson relayed that a ehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan terrorist, Rahim Akbar, was also apprehended during an IBO in Rawalpindi with hate material recovered from him. He was trying to trigger sectarian violence.

An IBO in Multan led to the arrest of a militant, Hassan Raza, associated with an outlawed outfit. He was also planning to foment sectarian tensions.
