The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has initiated fresh investigations on alleged corruption of former Federal Minister for Port and Shipping Babar Khan Ghauri. This new investigations on alleged corruption against Ghauri pertains to unlawful recruitment in Karachi Port Trust (KPT) due to which a huge loss of Rs. 2.88 billion was inflicted on to the national exchequer.
The NAB is going to register a new reference against him while a previous reference is being prosecuted on.
The NAB has in this context asked the KPT to furnish all relevant details and record to the Accountability Bureau at the earliest.
Ghauri is accused of massive corruption in the KPT and some 870 unlawful recruitment in 2008 and some 940 in 2012 and has been declared an absconder by the Accountability Court.
The unlawful recruitment were done in 2008 and 2012 and a record of that particular year has been demanded from the KPT.
The Accountability Court had also issued arrest warrant of the accused of corruption, Ghauri but his arrest could not be assured a she was out of the country.
According to sources, Dr Farooque Sattar had also influenced Ghauri for unlawful recruitment and once such as is of Assistant PRO of the KPT.
