76 Hurriyat leaders arrested: Indian govt

Indian government has admitted that 76 Hurriyat leaders were arrested after the abrogation of special status of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir on August 05, 2019.

According to Kashmir Media Service, a report released by the Indian Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) said that from August 2019 onwards 76 Hurriyat leaders including 70 in 2019 and 6 in 2020 were taken into custody. It mentioned that 58 were detained in the year 2018.

The report maintained that security provided to Hurriyat leaders was also withdrawn. It added that 82 bank accounts of Hurriyat leaders were also fro-zen.—INP
