Dr Rizwan was invited by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety (MOIS) of the Republic of South Korea and Asian Disaster Preparedness Centre to share the experience of the Program for Enhancement of Emergency Response (PEER) in South Asia and its more than two decades journey in developing sustainable emergency response capacities in Pakistan.
He was also asked to share the future of the program in transforming this experience into a partnership to promote regional cooperation for emergency preparedness and effective response especially in developing countries.
DG Emergency Services briefed that different courses of PEER remained a great help in order to train the trainers in the specialized field of Medical First Response (MFR), Collapsed Structure Search and Rescue (CSSR) and effective community response in the region.
The South Asian Countries replicated the PEER course to enhance emergency response capacity.
In Pakistan, the Emergency Management System was started in 2004. Initially, instructors had been developed through the PEER Program in the specialized field of medical, search and rescue and community response.
