Mother & Child health indicators under spotlight

Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid highlighted government’s commitment towards improvement in Mother and Child Health Indicators and Corona vaccination during a meeting with the delegation of international organization Global Leadership of Acasus Consulting Group here on Thursday.
The visiting delegation comprised of Phanton wellen, Maria Antonia, Dr Emily Watson, Syed Akbar, Ladeslo and Hunain Mandwiya.
The Health Minister discussed Corona Pandemic situation, Dengue situation, EPI Program, and Mother and Child health indicators with the delegation members.
The Health Minister said, “Massive resources are being utilized to control Corona and Dengue.
We have enhanced the scale of Corona vaccination in Punjab. All BHUs of Punjab are being upgraded to 24/7 model.
More than 45,000 Lady Health Workers are supporting in healthcare services. Punjab has vaccinated over 50 million people for Corona. Seven state-of-the-art mother and child hospitals are being built in the province.
On directions from Prime Minister Imran Khan, we are providing universal health coverage in entire Punjab. Given Punjab’s population, the development of new hospitals is inevitable.
Punjab is running the country’s largest school health nutrition program. The focus of the PTI government is on Social Development. We are committed to Polio Eradication in the province.”
Meanwhile, Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid chaired a meeting which was also attended Secretary Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Dr Asif Tufail, Vice Chancellor Prof Amir Zaman Khan, Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Shirin Khawar, MS Ganga Rama Hospital Prof Dr Athar, MS Govt Shahadra Hospital Dr Sabahat, Prof Javed Chaudhry and officials of Finance, Higher Education and other departments.
Pro Vice Chancellor presented the agenda items of the meeting. The chair approved the minutes of the 25th Syndicate meeting.
The Health Minister asked MS Shahadra Hospital to improve performance of the hospital and identify work shirkers.
The Chair approved extension in contract of five employees and sanctioned hiring at vacant position of Deputy Director Procurement.
The Criteria for new examiners and new supervisors was given approval. Further, the Minister approved the position of Assistant Professor Dermatology, Professor of Family Medicines and Assistant Professor vascular Surgery.
Approval was granted for purchase of 400 gowns, procurement of IT equipment, chemical and kits. The chair approved procurement of medical and lab equipment and furniture for the University.
Approval was also granted for security and janitorial services as well as seats for house keepers and bio medical engineers.
