The Inspector General of Police, Sindh Dr Syed Kaleem Imam said that the challenges that are being faced by Karachi Police are different from other cities as this city keeps a unique status internationally. People around the world, dignitaries, delegates, corporate sectors’ representatives and investors come to this city for tourism, business and hence the policing challenges ahead to Police here in Karachi are totally different. As well a huge influx of population is going on continuously as the people from across Pakistan come to this port city seeking jobs, medical care, etc; they also are linked to variety of problems and Police’s role is immensely overburdened in this city.
The Police force here in this city is required to stay alert 24/7 a week.
He was addressing a Seminar on the theme of “Citizens: Hindrances to provisioning of rapid justice and it’s reasons” , held at a local hotel, Thursday.
Sindh Chief Minister’s adviser on law, coastal development and Sindh government’s spokesman Barrister Murtaza Wahab, Police officials, retired judges, lawyers, NGOs representatives, civil society’s representatives and media persons attended.
The IG in his address urged upon the people that a collective manifest of responsibility is required for a better society and for speedy eradication of crimes and injustices and the people from different walks of life should take a forward step towards an end of petty disputes among the citizens and hence a better society with peace and tranquility and less crimes would automatically come into being.
