Islamabad: The parents of Zahir Jaffer, the main suspect in the Noor Mukadam rape and murder case, were issued a notice by the Islamabad High Court, which postponed the hearing till September 15 on Monday.
The bail pleas of the suspect’s father, Zakir Jaffer, and the workers of Therapy Works were heard by Justice Aamer Farooq of the IHC.
During the hearing, the judge ordered Noor’s family’s attorney, Advocate Shah Khawar, to file a power of attorney today.
The lawyer responded that he will file a power of attorney on behalf of Noor’s father, Shaukat Mukadam, today (Monday).
The application for the employees of Therapy Works to still have their bail cancelled is also being considered, according to Khawar, who added that if the court considers it appropriate, all of the petitions may be heard simultaneously.
The rules for issuing and cancelling bail, according to Justice Farooq, are different.
He said that the two petitions will be heard separately by the court.
If the hearing has to be postponed, Khawaja Harris, the petitioner’s lawyer, suggested that it be postponed until tomorrow.
Khawar was then instructed to produce a power of attorney, and the case was postponed until September 15. A notice was also issued on Zahir Jaffer’s mother Asmat Zakir’s bail plea.
Noor Mukadam’s family and friends are protesting and seeking justice.
During the hearing, Noor’s family and friends staged a protest outside the Islamabad High Court, asking for justice in the case.
Shaukat Mukadam, the victim’s father, was also present during the protest.
Noor’s family and friends asked that her killer be brought to justice. They also asked that those who assisted the murderer be held without bail.
