KP Food Authority seals several bakeries

Peshawara

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority on Sunday inspected various bazaars in Peshawar on public complaints and sealed several bakeries in Peshawar, Mardan and Nowshera.

According to a press release, complaints were received through complaint management cell about unhygienic foods, meat and shops situated in the provincial capital and other main bazaars of various districts.

The KPFSA raided chips and sweets factories at Phandu Road in Peshawar and sealed two chips and a sweet factory over use of low quality material and substandard production.

Five bakery units were also sealed in Mardan over unhygienic condition and use of spoiled eggs. Over 500 kilograms sweets and hundreds of spoiled eggs were also confiscated.

In Nowshehra, the Authority team sealed over 300 kilogram outdated flavor used in preparation of spices. The KPFSA officials vowed to continue taking strict action over complaints of non-compliance with food safety standards, unhygienic conditions and use of substandard material. —INP
