New IGP spells priorities in maiden media talks

Declaring his priorities on Wednesday after assuming charge as new Punjab Inspector General of Police, Rao Sardar Ali Khan announced that the police force will come down hard on land mafia across the province.

Addressing his first news conference here on Wednesday, Rao Sardar Ali shared his priorities and said that he would introduce reforms at police station level in order to provide a sense of security and quick redressal of public complaints. “All reforms to remain meaningless without change in traditional thana culture,” he emphasised.

The IG Police said, “Any police officer who will make contacts with the mafia will eventually have to leave his job from the police force.”

Another area in which the IGP announced to bring reforms is investigation. He said, “Many criminals easily get away from the court of law due to ill-investigations. We will ensure reforms in the investigations wing of the police force.”

The Punjab IGP said that improving police response will be under focused as in the past the police response to critical events were not up to the mark. He vowed to improve the police response to facilitate the citizens in critical situations.

He said the police force continue to improve coordination with business organizations, media, lawyers, and other segments of the society to bridge the gap between the police force and the public.

The Punjab IG also vowed to bridge the gap between the senior and junior officers to improve the service delivery of Punjab police. He said Punjab police would continue its operations against the menace of terrorism in the province. He lauded the efforts of Pakistan Armed Forces and CTD Punjab.
