The district administration Attock on Friday introduced fifty percent concession for special persons while travelling on intercity and inters district routes to facilitate them while travelling.
The concession would be introduced with immediate effect while people with all type of disabilities having the disability card issued by social welfare department of provincial government would be eligible to enjoy the reduced fare while travelling in public transport runs from general bus stand Attock.
In this connection, the inauguration ceremony of initiative was held at General bus stand Attock in which deputy commissioner Imran Hamid Sheikh was chief guest.
Officials from district administration, tehsil administration, regional transport authority, traffic police and representatives of disabled persons as well as transport union were also present on this occasion.
Speaking on this occasion, deputy commissioner Imran Hamid Sheikh has said that Punjab government is taking concrete steps for the welfare of special people and was strictly implementing the three per cent quota allocated for the disabled in the government jobs, while several social welfare institutions were working to rehabilitate, educate and train special persons.
He added that as per directives of the provincial government, every possible step will be taken for the welfare of special persons in district Attock.
On this occasion, Mr Sheikh directed the adda managers to give fifty percent discount in commercial transport to special persons in the light of Punjab government’s directives.
“Strict legal action will be taken against transporters who do not comply with the order,” he warned. Asked by the media about the implementation of official fare list, Mr Shiekh has said that secretary regional transport authority (RTA) would finalize fare on the all inter district.
