Two deaths, 250 new cases of coronavirus reported in last 24 hours

For the residents of Islamabad, there will be no first dose of Covid-19 today (Sunday) as the government has decided to reserve Sunday for the second dose recipients only.
As per the National Command & Operation Centre’s (NCOC) directions, all the vaccination centres including the mobile facilities will be administering Covid-19 vaccine only to those whose second dose is due, according to the District Health Officer (DHO) of Islamabad, Dr Zaeem Zia.
In a message on social media, the DHO tweeted, “The general public is hereby informed that Sundays have been dedicated only for the second dose. No 1st dose shall be entertained on Sunday.
Furthermore, the following vaccines are being administered at the Mass Vaccination Centre (MVC) F-9 Park and other facilities on all days except Sundays: SinoVac (Both Ist & 2nd dose), Sinopharm (Only 2nd dose), Cansino PakVac, AstraZeneca (Both 1st and 2nd dose), Moderna (Only 2nd dose), and Pfizer (Only 2nd dose).”
The DHO further said those patients with morbidities or immune-compromised patients are requested to bring photocopies of their medical record.
He also asked the travellers to bring the photocopies of their travelling documents to avoid inconvenience.
To a question, Dr Zaeem Zia said, all those whose second dose is due but they have not received any text message, should report to their nearest vaccination centre and get their second dose administered.
Sunday in this regard is the most suitable day since it has been reserved for the second dose recipients only.
Meanwhile, the federal capital on Saturday reported two deaths and 250 new cases of Covid-19 in the past twenty-four hours.
With these latest figures, Islamabad’s tally of cases has climbed to 100,492 while toll by Covid-19 surged to 870.
In wake of rising number of Covid-19 cases in 24 cities including Islamabad, the district government had a day earlier directed the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) to close all the educational institutions working under them for a week, till Sept 12.
Besides, private educational institutions as well have been closed for a week and a ban has been imposed on inter-city public transport.
In Islamabad and Rawalpindi districts, the positivity ratio in both areas was 5.4pc and 10.4pc, respectively.
