Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that the government is exhibiting patience in efforts to counter the Azadi March but that the opposition should not exploit the situation.
The Prime Minister said this while chairing a Parliamentary Party meeting of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and allied parties held here on Monday.
The premier said “our patience should not be construed as a weakness”, according to various participants of the meeting.
Sources said Imran Khan during the huddle said it is the government’s responsibility to ensure the safety of lives and properties of all Pakistanis, including the Azadi March protesters.
The PTI and allied parties expressed complete confidence on incumbent government and the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
A unanimously approved resolution in meeting said all allied parties, while expressing confidence on the government and prime minister, reiterate that historic reforms of the present government will prove to be a milestone in development of the country.
It endorsed the performance of Prime Minister and the government. The resolution said the parties will play their role in keeping the parliament active as per democratic values.
It said the role of government’s negotiation committee in the current milieu was important and satisfactory. It assured full cooperation to the Prime Minister and government in order to cope with economic, diplomatic, administrative and other challenges faced by Pakistan. It emphasized to play role in transforming Pakistan into an Islamic welfare state on the pattern of Madina.
Meanwhile, a National Assembly session has been convened on November 7. It is expected that the lower house will discuss the ongoing ‘Azadi March’ in Islamabad. According to sources, Prime Minister Imran Khan will also take the NA into confidence over opposition demands in the session.
A session of the Senate has been summoned to be held today on the requisition by the opposition.
The Senate session will be chaired by Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani. As per the agenda of the session, the situation in wake of the Azadi March will be discussed.
The agenda further said that the ongoing curfew and violence by Indian security forces in Indian occupied Kashmir will be discussed as well.
