As the several explosions rocked the gates of Kabul airport Thursday late night and the death toll crossing over hundred on Friday, the American forces striving to evacuate desperate Afghans, anticipate more such like attacks in the days to come.
This caused a great blow to the Americans who along with the Britain and other European countries are seeking extension in the deadline for the evacuation of hundreds of people mostly Afghan through Kabul Airport.
In fact the blasts and gunfire that rocked the area outside the airport on Thursday late evening were carried out by none else but the Islamic State (ISIS) a brain child of Americans created in 2015 to counter and crush the Taliban in the region.
It’s a different thing that the ISIS later turned against its mentor (US) that has never been a reliable working partner or master. One of our suicide bombers targeted “translators and collaborators with the American Army”. Islamic State (ISIS) said.
Independent sources question as to how could the bombers of the so called ISIS or Daesh manage to ambush the well-guarded Kabul Airport when the Americans and allies had credible Information that the ISIS could target the Kabul airport that is still
controlled by the American marines.
While scores of people including over a dozen American soldiers were killed in the twin blasts followed by gunshots outside the Airport gates the health authorities as well as the independent sources said the toll crossed over hundred on Friday.
Unconfirmed reports said several Taliban present at the Kabul airport to help evacuation of those stranded at the Airport were also killed in the bombings.
As the Video shot by Afghan journalists showed dozens of bodies strewn around a canal on the edge of the airport, a health official as well as Taliban officials said the toll of Afghans killed had risen to 100, including 28 Taliban members, although a Taliban spokesman later denied that any of their fighters guarding the airport perimeter had been killed.
The U.S. military said 13 of its service members were killed as it vowed to avenge the killing of its marines and braced for more attacks.
“Suicide bombers struck the crowded gates of Kabul airport with at least two explosions on Thursday, causing a bloodbath among civilians and U.S. troops and effectively shutting down the Western airlift of Afghans desperate to flee”. Eye witness
and the officials posted at the Kabul Airport said.
General Frank McKenzie, head of U.S. Central Command, said U.S. commanders were on alert for more attacks by Islamic State, including possibly rockets or car-bombs targeting the airport.
“We’re doing everything we can to be prepared,” he said, adding that some intelligence was being shared with the Taliban and that he believed “some attacks have been thwarted by them.”
Confusion and uncertainty gripped the Kabul airport the control of which continues to be in the hands of American though also assisted by the Taliban forces that are helping the evacuations process and took reigns of the Afghan capital on August 15
without shedding a drop of blood.
The independent sources said the responsibility of ensuring the safety of the Kabul Airport and safe evacuation of thousands of Afghans who worked for the West through two decades of war, continue to rest on the
Americans.
