The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Monday expressed serious reservations over allocation of plots by Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA) to Judges, journalists, doctors and others.
Chairman PAC Rana Tanveer said that for the last few days some reports of cancellation of plots for judges by the directions of Islamabad High Courts, in which the court seek proper criteria for allotment of plots to them.
He stressed that the PAC also wanted a defined criteria for allocation of plots under federal government housing schemes.
Chairman PAC wanted to take legal view on the matters from law ministry and said it was a sensitive issue.
Secretary of housing and works informed the committee that the Foundation now changed to Authority and there was totally banned on including journalists in the category of federal government employee for allotment of plots under federal government schemes if any.
Allotment of quota basis under federal government employees is also unjustified as all the members of Housing Foundation contain equal rights who come under the definition of Federal Government Employees.
The distribution among the Federal Government Employees puts an impact on the rights of other members.
Secretary Housing and Works informed the committee that the government was no focusing on high rise building instead of giving plots particularly in big cities.
In this regard he said the government has allocated three areas Chaklala in Rawalpindi, G-13 and in New Islamabad Airport areas where high rise building would be constructed.
