Sindh Health Care Commission (SHCC) has started issuing warnings to unregistered hospitals and clinics and in this context; the SHCC teams have started visiting these hospitals and clinics. The SHCC would impose penalties on the hospitals and clinics that would keep avoiding warnings and would keep indulged in violations of the laws. The SHCC is facilitating these unregistered hospitals and clinics with free of cost registration while in future a sum of Rs. 500, 000 would be the money to be the fine money.
In order to eliminate the menace of quackery, the Directorate of Clinical Governance and Training (DCGT) held a meeting to decide about the service charges to be obtained form patients at the diagnostic laboratories in the city. The meeting was attended by the DCGT official and economic and financial managers. The meeting also deliberated on pros and cons of the policy drafting regarding disease control and diagnostic laboratories SOPs. The DCGT has also dispatched a detailed report on existing condition of the Provincial Waste Management to the Ministry of Environment.
The DCGT in action against the quacks so far sealed 2585 centers of quackery and warning letters issued to some 674 such centres.
The DCGT has also received some 100 public complaints about hospitals and clinics of which 80 have so far been addressed while action on remaining 20 is being processed.
