Chief Minister Usman Buzdar on Friday announced Rs1 million financial assistance each for the three persons, killed after a bomb ripped through an Ashura procession in Bahawalnagar on Thursday. As many as 50 other persons sustained injuries in the incident.

The Punjab government will provide Rs1 million each to the bereaved families while those who suffered severe injuries will receive Rs500,000 each,” CM Usman Buzdar said.

The chief minister also said that those having sustained minor injuries will be provided with Rs100,000 each.

Usman Buzdar declared that the monetary compensation is in no way a replacement for the lives lost as only the ones who lose their loved ones and mourn their passing know the pain.

The chief minister, however, said that the Punjab government sympathizes with the bereaved families and will not leave them and the injured in lurch.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Usman Buzdar sought a report from the Punjab IG Police about the tragic incident that occurred in Bahawalnagar and directed legal action against the accused.
