MULTAN – At least three people were killed and more than 50 injured after an explosion took place during a Ashura procession in Bahawalnagar, the southeast region in the Punjab province of Pakistan, on Thursday.
Security officials have cordoned off the area and launched a combing operation to trace suspects.
Rescue officials also reached the incident and shifted bodies and injured persons to different hospitals.
Senator Sehar Kamran has condemned the attack and prayed for the speedy recovery of those who were injured.
Former special assistant to prime minister on overseas Pakistanis Sayed Zulfiqar Bukhar also condemned the incident.

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has taken notice of the incident and sought a detailed report from the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD).
