The Islamabad Traffic Police has issued a traffic diversion plan to facilitate the road users on the occasion of the Youm-e-Ashura.
According to a handout issued on Wednesday by the ITP, more than 250 cops including one SP, four DSPs, 11 inspectors would perform duties on the occasion to divert traffic on alternate routes.
SSP (Traffic) Syed Karrar Hussain has finalized this plan as per directions of IGP Islamabad Qazi Jamil ur Rehman.
Mr Hussain will himself supervise the entire plan while traffic police officials would be present at diversion points to guide road users.
ITP FM Radio 92.4 would also inform people about the latest situation on the road through special transmission.
The first procession of 10th Muharram would be taken out from sector sector F-11/3, Street 37, House No. 366 at 1:00 pm and culminate at Darbar Sakhi Shah Muzammil Bheka Syedan after passing through its route.
The signal of F-11/2-3 would be closed and residents of sector F-11 could use Service Road Meharabadi, Kazmin Chowk, F-11 signal and Kashmir Highway to move towards Motorway, Rawalpindi, Aabpara Market, and Zero Point.
F-11 Double Road would be closed and motorists could use Margalla Road to reach from Haideri Chowk F-11 to sector F-7 and F-8.
The Naval Colony Halal Road, Beacon House near Haideri Chowk and Telenor Plaza road would also remain closed for traffic.
The other procession of 10th Muharram would be taken out from Imambargah Moosa Kazim sector I-10/1 at 12:00 pm and culminate at the same point after passing through various routes.
During the procession, Street 18, Markaz Side in Sector I-10 would remain closed for traffic and motorists could use IJP Road to travel from I-10 Sabzi Mandi to Faizabad, Murree Road, Bhara Kahu, Khanna Pull and Airport.
CDA Chowk sector I-10, Habib Tarpal Chowk and Corner Service Road I-10/4 would also be closed and the motorists would use IJP Road or Pirwadhai Road to reach sector I-9, I-8, and Faizabad.
ITP has appealed the citizens to use alternate routes while its personnel will be deployed on various points to guide them. The citizens have been also requested to cooperate with police.
