Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar has said that protection of rights of the minorities is among the top priorities of the government and whenever any incident of injustice involving minorities is reported strict action is being taken against the responsible persons.
Punjab Governor Ch Sarwar was talking to t delegations led by Punjab Energy Minister Dr Akhtar Malik, Punjab Minister for Minorities Ejaz Alam Augustine and members PTI Chaudhry Abdullah Tahir and Chaudhry Saleem Sadiq which called on him at Governor House here on Tuesday.
He said that corruption is disastrous for any country and the government led by Prime Minister Imran Khan has been pursuing a policy of transparent and impartial accountability from day one to eliminate corruption from the country.
Chaudhry Sarwar underscored that the government is committed to the policy of transparent and impartial accountability. Today, all institutions, including parliament and democracy, are getting stronger, he said.
He further stated that the supremacy of constitution and maintaining law in the country is the responsibility of the government which will be fulfilled at all costs, adding that the people are with democracy, rule of law and the government narrative.
The Governor Punjab said no one can tolerate injustice with minorities in Pakistan and the government takes strict action, wherever any incident involving injustice with the minorities was reported.
Punjab Minister for Minorities Affairs Ijaz Alam said that government agencies stand by every minority living in Pakistan and they will never be left alone in any circumstance, adding that the nefarious designs of those who are conspiring against religious harmony will be thwarted.
Meanwhile, Punjab Minister for Culture Khayal Ahmed Kastro presided over a meeting regarding Punjab Event Calendar prepared by Information and Culture Department at Al-Hamra here on Tuesday.
The meeting was attended by Punjab Information Secretary Raja Jahangir Anwar, DGPR Saman Rai, Executive Director PUCAR, Rizwan Sharif, DG PILAC Sughra Sadaf, Director Alhamra Zulfiqar Ali Zulfi, and heads of other departments concerned.
The meeting discussed the Punjab Event Calendar, the way forward to implement it and make it a success in the challenging times of the pandemic.
Speaking on the occasion, Provincial Minister for Culture Khayal Ahmed Kastro praised the efforts of the Information and Culture department for preparing a calendar of annual cultural events 2022.
Secretary Information said that the Prime Minister and Chief Minister will soon be given a presentation for approval of the calendar to be recognized officially at the federal and provincial levels. He further added that it is important to be prepared to move toward a post-pandemic society.
We need to push for greater sustainability in this sector and demand new ways for us to thrive in the remaining 2021 and beyond.
The Minister Culture said that all religious, cultural, and national events are included in the calendar which will be celebrated throughout Punjab.
