On the direction of Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar, an awareness seminar and open forum was organized by the Ombudsperson Punjab in Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Dera Ghazi Khan.
Minister for Climate Change Zartaj Gul, Ombudsperson Punjab Nabeel Hakim Khan, Deputy Commissioner and Additional Commissioner Revenue and other senior officials participated the ceremony.
The seminar informed the women about their inheritance rights and the steps taken by the Punjab government against harassment.
Minister for Climate Change Zartaj Gul while lauding the Chief Minister Punjab said that it is a great initiative to bring the Women Property Act 2021 in the purview of Ombudsperson.
She said that Ombudsperson is such organization which needs to be strengthen by increasing the scope of dimensions. It is very important for the government to take obligatory actions to reinforce the law rather to abolish it, she added.
Addressing the seminar, Ombudsperson Punjab Nabeela Hakim Khan said that on the special directions of the Chief Minister Punjab, the camp office of the Ombudsperson Punjab has been made functional in Dera Ghazi Khan.
Now women from this area do not have to come to Lahore to seek justice. All cases related to women’s property and harassment will now be heard in this camp office.
Speaking on the occasion, she said that as soon as the office became operational, she had heard one case of harassment and four property related cases and in a property case, ordered the Deputy Commissioner to take action against the Revenue Officer.
She said that the Ombudsperson Punjab is trying to provide timely justice will encourage women to expose evil elements in their offices rather to bear them.
