Following a host of complaints against an Excise and Taxation Inspector, the Director Excise & Taxation has ordered an inquiry against him under PEEDA Act.
According to details, the E&T director took the action on the complaint of a taxpayer namely Shahid.
He filed an application to the E&T Faisalabad director, submitting that he has been a regular taxpayer since 2016 and has paid a huge amount in property tax to the E&T as per policy of the govt.
The taxpayer alleged that despite paying property tax regularly on annual basis but Inspector Faisal Aziz, who was supposed to update his record and show him as taxpayer in the system, did not enter his name in the system for five consecutive years.
“The inspector updated my account on the system after 5 years in 2021, and this delay resulted in showing me as defaulter in the E&T system.
Faisal Aziz acted with mala fide intentions due to which the Excise and Taxation system showing my paid tax amounts as due”, the applicant pleaded.
Following the application, the Excise & Taxation Faisalabad director has ordered a regular inquiry against Inspector Faisal Aziz under PEEDA act.
It has been learnt that a number of taxpayer citizens have filed a number of complaints against the Inspector on different allegations.
When contacted by Pakistan Observer’s Faisalabad divisional correspondent, Inspector Faisal Aziz confirmed the allegations stating that he deleted the three recipients from the system
“However, after completion of the verification process by account office, two recipients were restored on system”, he added.
The taxpayers have demanded the E&T high-ups to take quick action against Inspector Faisal Aziz after forensic verification of the online system of the department.
