Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Monday regretted that development work was carried out without proper planning and taking public needs into account in the past, which instead of benefiting public, made them faced the consequences.

“The exhibitory projects incurred a burden on the public kitty and added to public miseries in the past.

Now the PTI-led government has devised projects through sustained planning and taking public needs into consideration.”

Chief Minister Usman Buzdar was speaking at a briefing organised by the LDA and Wasa for parliamentarians of Lahore about the progress on development schemes.

DG LDA Ahmed Aziz Tarar and MD Wasa Syed Zahid Aziz briefed the parliamentarians that work has been started on a number of mega projects to facilitate the citizens in the City.

The public representatives appreciated the spate of development work and hoped that this will provide best facilities to citizens of the metropolis.

It is sanguine that the development plans have been designed in consultation with the parliamentarians while setting aside the politics of the one-man show, they continued.

Sharing detail, Usman Buzdar said that work has been started on Sheranwala flyover, Shahkam Chowk flyover and Ghulab Devi underpass projects to resolve traffic problems by improving traffic flow.

Similarly, 11 underground water tanks will also be built in Lahore to save rainwater, he said.

The underground water tank has been constructed at Lawrence Road while work is in progress on Kashmir Road and Sheranwala Gate underground water tanks projects, the CM added.

Another underground water tank will also be developed at Gaddafi Stadium. “More than Rs2 billion will be spent on underground water tanks planned at Tajpura, Karim Park Ravi Road, railway station, Cooper Road, Waris Road, Rasool Park and vegetable market of Iqbal Town, he said.

Similarly, the sewage line will be constructed from Chungi Amar Sidhu to Hadiara Drain with over Rs1 billion.

Meanwhile, an elderly woman and her grandson met with Chief Minister Usman Buzdar and apprised him of their problems.

The CM lent a patient ear to them and directed the staff to resolve their problems. The visiting woman thanked the CM and prayed for him.

The CM reiterated that the people of backward areas are near to his heart as he also belongs to such an area and knows the problems of the people very well.

Meanwhile, CM Usman Buzdar paid rich tribute to Dr. Ruth Pfau for her glorious services in eradicating the leprosy disease from Pakistan. In his message on fourth death anniversary of Dr Pfau, the CM said that she (Pfau) selflessly spent her entire life serving humankind.

He said leprosy fighter Dr Ruth Pfau set a high example of continuously serving the patients and the credit of eradicating this disease from the country goes to her hard-working and enduring efforts.

Meanwhile, CM Usman Buzdar went to the residence of nominated provincial minister Asad Khokhar in DHA and condoled with him over the death of his brother Mubashir Khokhar. He offered Fateha for the departed soul and extended condolence to the bereaved family.
