More than 50 persons allegedly involved in vandalism at a Hindu temple in Bhong area of Rahim Yar Khan have been arrested.

In a statement posted on his official Twitter handle on Thursday, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar said the people involved in vandalism at the temple were arrested with the help of CCTV footage.

“It is up to the state to ensure protection of worship places of all religions,” he maintained, vowing measures to bring closure to such incidents.

The chief minister also said that work on rehabilitation of the temple is underway at a brisk pace.

On Friday, the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) ordered arrest of the people involved in vandalising the Hindu temple in Bhong besides making them to pay for its rehabilitation.

The apex court reprimanded the police SHO for arresting the eight-year-old kid and ordered his removal from his post.
