FPCCI can play role to connect Maldives exporters with Pakistan: Maggo

President Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Mian Nasser Hyatt Maggo has said that the FPCCI can play an ac-tive role in connecting Maldives with exporters in Pakistan to meet their import requirements.

He was addressing a joint virtual organized by Pak-Maldives Business Council of FPCCI in collabora-tion with State Trading Organization (STO) of Mal-dives.

Facilitated by the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) along with the High Commission of Pakistan in Male, Maldives, objective of the event was to highlight the untapped trade opportuni-ties for Pakistani exporters by connecting them with Maldives importers.

Mian Nasser Hayat Maggo highlighted the potential to enhance the volumes of bilateral trade in con-struction materials, pharmaceuticals, textiles and food items, among others.

He said that FPCCI is ready to host a trade delega-tion from Maldives to Pakistan in order to facilitate the Maldivian importers to have first-hand knowl-edge of Pakistani products from varied industries and sectors. He also offered his full support to es-tablish B2B linkages.

On the occasion, Vice Admiral (R) Ather Mukhtar shared his vision for the Pak-Maldives relations and encouraged both sides to make the most out of the potential business and trade opportunities.

Acting High Commissioner of Maldives in Pakistan, Ali Rilwan also shared his remarks and encouraged both sides to work together to explore business op-portunities.

Chairman Pak-Maldives Business Council of FPCCI, Mr. Imran Khalil Naseer apprised the audi-ence of the enormous potential to enhance bilateral trade and economic cooperation.

He said that Paki-stan and Maldives should explore investment and joint venture opportunities through regular B2B contacts.

Pakistan’s Trade and Investment Attaché in Mal-dives, Ms. Asmma Kamal shared a detailed presen-tation on existing trade figures between the two countries.

She also highlighted potential industries and sectors for Maldives to source goods from Paki-stan.

Director Pak Maldives Business Council, Mr. Altaf Hashwani enquired about the potential of STO Mal-dives to enhance imports of textiles and hosiery products from Pakistan.
