Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid on Monday raised alarm about the impending disaster the fourth wave of coronavirus could unleash.

“Death toll from Delta virus or fourth wave of corona is rapidly increasing and ratio of positive cases is consistently rising in the province.”

The health minister also issued alert to all government hospitals to put in place all preparations to combat the fourth wave of Covid-19 in the province, fearing that this wave could be more lethal than the previous three waves.

She directed all government hospitals officials to submit details of available medical facilities at hospitals. “The government has been utilising all available resources to increase health facilities in government hospitals.”

The number of Covid-19 cases is increasing across the country including Punjab as the overall positivity rate in the province has jumped to 4.1%, the provincial secretary, the health minister informed.
