All political parties contesting the Azad Jammu and Kashmir legislative Assembly elections have unanimously agreed on deployment of Army at the polling station to maintain law and order on the polling day.
The consensus in this affect was developed during a high level meeting of the Election Commission held here on Monday. Chief Election Commissioner of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Justice (Retired) Abdul Rashid Sulehria chaired the meeting.
Participants of the meeting suggested the election commission for the deployment of Army at the polling stations to maintain law and order on the polling day. Speaking on the occasion the Chief Election Commissioner urged the heads of the political parties to ensure the implementation of the code of conduct announced by the election commission to ensure the peaceful conduct of the election.
Election commission member Farhat Ali Mir said that the purpose of the consultative meeting with the heads of the political parties is aimed at seeking their opinion regarding the deployment of Army at the polling stations to maintain law and order on the polling day and added that election commission has taken strict actions against the violations of code of conduct.
A resolution regarding the deployment of the Army at the polling station was also passed by the participants.
